Meet our Board Members: Myra Egan

Meet Myra Egan, our Board Vice-Chair!

Myra is originally from Bathurst, New Brunswick, has three grown children and 7 grandchildren.

After graduating from the Saint John School of Nursing in 1974, she worked in a number of hospitals in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia before relocating to Kamloops, BC then North Delta and finally to Campbell River in 1994.

Her desire to become involved and meet people in her new community lead her to volunteer at her children’s schools, at the Tidemark Theatre and become the driving force and a charter member of the Campbell River Newcomers Club.

Myra’s nursing career provided her many rewarding challenges and opportunities, mostly in the operating room. When she retired in 2013, she was the Clinical Co-Ordinator Surgical Services at the Campbell River Hospital.

It was while holding this last position that she gained a greater understanding and appreciation of the impact the Hospital Foundation plays in supporting the Campbell River Hospital and Yucalta Lodge staff and patience.

Joining the Board after retirement, she is an active volunteer and currently is enjoying her role with the Campbell River Hospital Foundation.
