Home Hardware Social Fund Supports Breast Health

The Campbell River Home Hardware Social Fund recently donated $1800 towards to support the purchase of a Biopsy Gun for the Mammography Department in Campbell River Hospital.  The Social Fun is spearheaded by Home Hardware employees Amber Spring and Leanne Monks; they raise money for local charities through activities such as book and bake sales at their Campbell River Store.  The Biopsy Gun is a tool used to extract sample of cells or tissue from the breast for microscopic examination; the specimen is taken from a lump or mass that was detected on an imaging test such as mammography or ultrasound.  The Biopsy Gun removes a very small piece of tissue, making the procedure less invasive as well as an improved recovery time. Pioneer Home Hardware Building Centre is built upon a family environment, the business being owned and operated by the Thulin family since 1937 in Campbell River. They are well known for their fabulous team of employees and giving back to their community.
