Advanced Cardiac Care receives support from RBC Foundation

RBC is one of Canada’s largest corporate donors, with a tradition of philanthropy dating back to 1891.  Recently named as one of the “Best 50 Corporate Citizens” in Canada, RBC supports a broad range of community initiatives through donations, sponsorships, and employee volunteer activities. The RBC Foundations’ charitable consideration recently included the Campbell River Hospital Foundation (CRHF), with $20,000 to support the purchase an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Kit.   ACLS is an advanced, instructor-led classroom course that highlights the management of patients in cardiac arrest, with unstable heart rhythms or suffering acute heart attacks or strokes.  Team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac-arrest are highlighted.  Specific skills in airway management and related pharmacology are also featured.  Skills are taught through group discussion and hands on learning through case-based scenarios using simulators. RBC Branch Manager, Matthijs Bruining explained why this cause is important to the institution, “As always our organizations have a great history of working together for the collective good of our community.  RBC's approach in ensuring a broad base of support to create a foundation for a wide range of community and social causes ensures that we have a vibrant community today and in the future.” RBC believes in the power of communities and the people who live in them.  By fostering employee engagement and good corporate citizenship RBC has created a culture of giving and pride in the communities that they live and do business in. “Supporting staff in their continued education is a vital part of health care. Ongoing training and education opportunities help health care professionals keep current with today’s ever changing advancements and technologies allowing them to provide the best care possible to patients and clients,” states Stacey Marsh, Executive Director, CRHF.  “The RBC Foundation has continued to show their commitment to our hospital and community, they have given more than $143,000 since 2005. The RBC Foundation and their local staff understand that healthcare is about giving and we are extremely grateful for their support and partnership.” For more information on how you can support the doctors, nurses and other key members of your local healthcare team, and help ensure that you and your loved ones continue to receive first-class healthcare right here at home visit
