Worry Less...Laugh More

Brent and Kristie Cross recently presented the Campbell River Hospital Foundation with a donation of $1000 to go towards a Video Processor for the Endoscopy Department in memory of Lyndon Cross. Lyndon Cross was a social worker that worked in youth protection services. He fought a short but courageous battle with cancer with strength and determination.  He was an extremely dedicated and caring person trying to make a difference in the lives of those in foster care. “Lyndon had a way of looking at life that continues to touch us,” states Kristie Cross.  “At times, he could be such a worrier and in the end he had wished that he had worried less and laughed more.  We try to remember this each and every day” It was important to those that loved Lyndon and who were touched by his life to continue his passion for making a difference.  And so the Lyndon’s Legacy Slo Pitch Tournament began.  With the help of their team, Penners Chargers, Brent and Kristie organize a tournament each year that honours Lyndon.  The proceeds from the tournament support equipment purchase at Campbell River Hospital as well as two bursaries of $2000 each that are awarded in Lyndon’s name to students at North Island College that have been in Foster Care so that they have the opportunity to continue their education.  “Brent and Kristie, their team, The Penners Chargers and all of the teams that participate in the tournament have made a very real impact at Campbell River Hospital.” says Stacey Marsh, Executive Director.  “They have helped to purchase a Ventilator for ICU and an Electrosurgical Unit and now the Video Processor for Endoscopy, this support has definitely helped to make a difference for health care” The Video Processor works hand-in-hand with the Electrosurgical Unit in the Endoscopy Department that was also recently purchased through the Hospital Foundation.  The Scope attaches to the Video Processor allowing the physician to see the progress of the scope on screen. The purchase of this equipment will fully equip a second Endoscopy suite and in turn creating the ability for more patients to be cared for.  The Endoscopy Department in Campbell River Hospital currently performs an average of ten procedures per day, five days per week.  If you would like to support the purchase of this vital piece of equipment, please contact the Campbell River Hospital Foundation at 250-850-2418
