Kinsmen Donation Helps Purchase High Defintion Monitors for Mammography

The Kinsmen Club of Campbell River recently presented the Hospital Foundation with a donation of $21,909 towards High Definition Monitors for Mammography.  There are a limited number of these monitors on Vancouver Island; Victoria and Campbell River making the acquisition of these monitors for Campbell River extremely meaningful.   Each year there are approximately 4000 mammograms performed in our hospital, with the technologists performing the task of acquiring mammography images and then sending the images to either Nanaimo or Comox hospitals for interpretation.  These monitors along with our recently recruited Radiologist Dr. Chilton mean diagnostic interpretations can now be done here in Campbell River.  These monitors will also reduce the chances of calling a false positive, thus avoiding further imaging studies, and or proceeding with invasive procedures.  This could translate into reduced costs and reducing anxiety for our patients. You can support the doctors, nurses and other key members of your local healthcare team, and help ensure that you and your loved ones continue to receive first-class healthcare right here at home by donating on line at or calling (250) 850-2418
