Bringing Nature to our Hospital

Studies have shown that viewing nature reduces patient pain as well as stress, and experts agree that a healing environment can improve patient outcome.  Nature's ability to provide solace, inspiration and hope makes it an indispensable element of the total health care environment. The Campbell River Hospital Foundation, in partnership with artist Marek Zaleski is pleased to bring the healing power of nature to the Campbell River Hospital. The Wellness Collection is a uniquely designed silent cinematic composition of nature photographs from North Vancouver Island. The Wellness Collection is a project supported by sponsors that purchase advertising space throughout the presentation.  The collection has been playing since May 2012, it can be viewed in several waiting areas in the Campbell River Hospital and prints can be purchased through our website. There are two upcoming phases to this project; the Healing Collection and Adopt a Print. The Healing Collection, is very similar to the Wellness Collection, however it is in video format and truly must be seen to experience its full impact.  This presentation will be on rotating display with the Wellness Collection in waiting areas in our hospital in the near future. Adopt a Print will bring nature to the walls of our hospital. There are a limited number of prints available for adoption at an introductory price of $250; you will receive a tax receipt of $150.  Prints that are adopted in Honour of Memory of a loved one will be recognized with a small plaque.  In addition, you will receive a commemorative 8 by 10 copy of the print as a keepsake.  The prints up for adoption can be viewed in the hallway leading to the Sunshine Wellness Centre. This project has helped to create a peaceful environment for patients and their families and friends as well as staff.  If you would like more information on how to sponsor or Adopt a Print contact our office at 250-850-2418 or info@crhospitalfoundation.ca "Having reviewed some of this art work for myself in the middle of a hectic day, it brought not only a sense of peace but the ability to focus with a fresh perspective.  I can only imagine what it will do to patient's sense of well being and figuratively be transported to a place of peace and calmness. I am pleased to support the Hospital Foundation in this unique and beneficial project."~ Lois Tirebuck, CRH Site Director
