Lucy Malone, representing the Elk Falls Emergency Benevolent Society presented the Hospital Foundation with a donation of $50,000 towards a group of equipment for the Operating Room, Recovery Room and Day Surgery.
The equipment includes a new OR Bed, Warming Cabinet and Sterilization Unit, which play an integral part in caring for all patients, including children.
"The equipment will enhance the level of effeciency of the Operating Room and support departments," states Myra Egan, OR Clinical Coordinator. "I would like to thank Lucy and the Benevolent Society for their support, along with the many other individuals, businesses and groups that support our hospital through the Hospital Foundation."
With the closure of Elk Falls Mill, the society has been dissolved after 50 years. Originating at the Crown Zellerbach mill in Ocean Falls, the society assisted employees who had been afflicted by a personal tragedy, generally in the form of grants or interest free loans.
The process of winding down the society resulted in contributions totalling more than $93,000, all donated to may worthy causes in Campbell River.
