On Friday, June 4, 2010 the 20th Sportfit Pub Run took place, raising more than $12,000 to support quality health care in Campbell River and the North Island, taking the total raised well over $100,000.
For the second year in a row, Quinsam Coal has shown their support for the Campbell River Hospital Foundation and quality health care by sponsoring the pub run. A part of Campbell River since 1987, Quinsam Coal currently employees 135 people and believe in hiring and training locally. Quinsam Coal not only contributes to many worthwhile community organizations, they make a conscious effort of supporting the endeavors of their employee's children by supporting local minor sports.
Twenty six runners raised money through pledges and the sale of merchandise at local pubs and to supportive, albeit unsuspecting motorists, walkers and tourists. The 2010 Sportfit Pub Run was supported by various pubs in Campbell River and this year we would like to thank the Ripple Rock Pub, Willows Neighbourhood Pub, MVP Pub, Royal Coachman Pub, Rip Tide Pub & Freddie's Pub. The support that the runners receive from pub patrons and staff is very much appreciated.
